First Mining Gold signs development agreement for Springpole project

First Mining Gold Corp. has signed a definitive development agreement with Cat Lake First Nation and Lac Seul First Nation for the Springpole Gold project in northwestern Ontario. The project, located approximately 140 km north of Sioux Lookout, is considered one of the largest undeveloped gold projects in the province, with an inferred mineral resource of 4.8 million ounces of gold and 28 million ounces of silver.

The agreement was negotiated through an Anishinaabe-led impact assessment (ALIA) process and covers all project phases, including construction, operations, and closure. Key provisions include community participation in environmental management and monitoring, as well as preferential training and employability measures to provide economic benefits to the participating Nations.

This collaboration follows a previous $4-million agreement signed in June to develop an all-season access road linking Cat Lake to Sioux Lookout. Following the announcement, shares of First Mining increased in Toronto trading.
