First Single-Port Robotic Gynecologic Surgery Performed in Greece

A pioneering operation was carried out at Metropolitan Hospital in Greece, marking the country's first single‑port (single‑site) robotic gynecologic surgery. The procedure, a total hysterectomy, was performed by Dr. Nikolaos Plevris, Director of the First Gynecologic Clinic at Metropolitan General and Head of Robotic Surgery, together with Dr. Ilias Tsakos, Director of EmbryoClinic, with scientific support from Dr. Vasilis Poulakis, Head of the Robotic Urology Center, and assistance from Mr. Vasileios Moros.

The patient experienced an uneventful postoperative course, confirming the benefits of the technique – faster recovery, minimal pain, and superior cosmetic outcomes – while maintaining safety and effectiveness. The achievement highlights Greece’s growing capacity in advanced robotic surgery and positions the nation as a regional hub for medical innovation in southeastern Europe.
