First Solar files patent infringement lawsuit against JA Solar

First Solar, Inc. has filed a patent infringement lawsuit in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware against JA Solar (including its international and Vietnamese subsidiaries) and American Panel Solutions LLC. The lawsuit alleges unauthorized use of US Patent No. 9,130,074, which covers manufacturing methods for Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) crystalline silicon photovoltaic solar cells.

Separately, financial analysts at KeyCorp have adjusted their earnings forecasts for First Solar. The firm lowered its Q3 2026 earnings per share estimate to $4.59 from a previous projection of $4.99. This follows a recent quarterly report where First Solar posted $3.92 earnings per share on $1.06 billion in revenue.
