FirstHoldco shares surge as billionaire Femi Otedola raises stake to 20.4%
Nigerian financial services firm FirstHoldco saw its shares climb 38.7% in the week ending 17 July 2026, propelling the banking index up 9.3% and boosting the market's total capitalisation by roughly N612 billion to N157.06 trillion. The rally was led by FirstHoldco and FidelityBank, while the broader NGX All‑Share Index slipped 0.14%.
During the same period, billionaire investor Femi Otedola increased his ownership of FirstHoldco to 20.40% as of 30 June 2026, up from 18.12% three months earlier. His combined holdings rose to 9.28 billion shares—3.25 billion direct and 6.03 billion indirect—reflecting an addition of about 1.22 billion shares since March. The increase occurred alongside a rise in the company's issued share capital to 45.48 billion shares.
