Fisayo Dele-Bashiru faces injury setback at Lazio

Lazio midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is expected to be sidelined for at least three weeks following a right-thigh injury sustained during the club’s 1-0 Serie A victory over Bologna. Medical examinations identified a first- or second-degree tear. The injury will likely cause him to miss upcoming fixtures against Genoa, Udinese, and AC Milan, with his availability for the match against Venezia on September 19 remaining uncertain.

The injury also impacts the Nigerian national team, as the Super Eagles are scheduled to begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign in late September with matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau. Dele-Bashiru’s recovery timeline may allow him to return just in time for the international break.

Additionally, Lazio midfielder Adam Marusic has also been sidelined with a flexor muscle strain sustained during the same match, with an expected recovery period of two to three weeks.
