Fisher House opens for Veteran families in Montrose, New York

A new Fisher House has opened at the VA Hudson Valley Healthcare System in Montrose, New York. Located at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Hospital, the 11,400-square-foot facility provides no-cost lodging for families of Veterans receiving medical care.

The facility is designed to support families of Veterans undergoing inpatient mental health care and residential rehabilitation treatment. By providing a place for loved ones to stay together during recovery, the home is estimated to save families a combined $700,000 in lodging expenses annually when at full occupancy.

This is the fourth Fisher House in New York, following existing locations in Albany and the Bronx. The dedication ceremony included officials from the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Fisher House Foundation.
