Fisherman found dead near Pulau Batu Layang
The body of 33-year-old fisherman Khairul Amir Bahroom was discovered near Pulau Batu Layang in Perlis waters. He was found approximately 400 metres from the island by members of the local fishing community.
Mr. Bahroom had been reported missing at approximately 3:30 am the previous day after falling into the sea while shrimp fishing alongside his 39-year-old brother. Following the report of the discovery, Maritime Malaysia deployed assets, including the vessel Benteng 1207, to retrieve the body and transport it to the Kuala Perlis Customs Jetty.
The body has been handed over to the police, and Kangar District Police Chief ACP Yusharifuddin Mohd Yusop confirmed that the deceased will be taken to the Forensic Unit of Hospital Tuanku Fauziah for a post-mortem examination.
