Fisherman rescued at sea near Con Dao for suspected appendicitis

Authorities have successfully rescued a fisherman suspected of having appendicitis in the waters near Con Dao. The individual, 26-year-old Nguyen Van Chi Thanh, reported severe lower right abdominal pain while aboard the fishing vessel TG 90368 TS on the evening of August 17.

At the time of the distress call, the vessel was located approximately 109 nautical miles southeast of Vung Tau and 85 nautical miles east of Con Dao, facing Southwest winds of level 5 to 6 with gusts up to level 8. Due to the distance from land and the risk of deteriorating health, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center deployed the SAR 413 vessel.

The rescue operation included medical personnel from the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Port Border Guard Command and the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard. Following the rescue, the fisherman was brought to shore and received initial medical treatment and care from the border guard medical team.
