Fishermen achieve notable catches in Brazil
Two significant fishing achievements were recently recorded in Brazil. In Santa Catarina, 23-year-old Carlos Eduardo Maciel Cardozo caught a 19 kg, 1.07-meter-long dourado in the Uruguay River. The catch is considered extraordinary because it was made using artificial bait, a technique rarely successful for fish of this size. Biologists noted the specimen was a female, characterized by a more robust body.
In Minas Gerais, sport fisherman Pedro Nascimento caught a 68-centimeter blue peacock bass (Cichla piquiti) in the Paranaíba River. This catch equals the absolute Brazilian and Minas Gerais male records for length. Following BGFA Recordes regulations, the fish was measured and immediately released back into the river. Nascimento now shares the national ranking for this species.
