Fishguard housing development welcomes first residents

The first residents have moved into Angorfa, a new housing development in the centre of Fishguard, Wales. Developed by Wales & West Housing on the site of the former Ship and Anchor pub, the project provides 12 apartments specifically designed for individuals aged over 55.

The apartments follow HAPPI (Housing our Ageing Population Panel for Innovation) principles, featuring wide doorways, accessible bathrooms, and energy-efficient technology such as solar panels. The design includes open walkways and shared gardens to encourage social interaction among residents.

The development has faced local opposition due to its location within the Fishguard Conservation area, near 17 listed buildings. Some residents expressed concerns regarding the impact on the historic streetscape and a lack of available parking.
