Fishing events and competitions held in Croatia's Drava region
Various fishing activities and competitions have recently taken place in the Drava region of Croatia. In Donji Vidovec, a ‘Small Fishing School’ was organized by SRD ‘Štuka’ Donja Dubrava and SRD ‘Mrena’ Donji Vidovec. The program focused on teaching children about fishing techniques, nature, and environmental responsibility through practical lessons and outdoor activities along the Drava River.
Additionally, the Drava Sopje Sport Fishing Association held the final round of its float fishing league on the Voćinka River near Zvonimirovac. The competition saw Damir Hančić emerge as the individual winner. Organizers noted that low water levels caused by climate change significantly impacted the competition conditions. To combat these environmental challenges, local associations are working to maintain biological minimum water levels in local ponds by drilling artesian wells and installing solar panels.
