Fishing events held in Arroyo de la Encomienda and Ayolas

The second edition of the Río de la Vida Fishing Fair took place in Arroyo de la Encomienda, Spain. The event focused on introducing younger generations to fishing through workshops, masterclasses, and practical activities. Programs included fly tying, the use of sonar and bait boats, and specialized sessions for children. A notable initiative, ‘Learn to Fish,’ was developed by Shimano ambassadors for children aged 8 to 14, combining rainbow trout catch-and-release fishing with educational games about environmental respect.

In Ayolas, Paraguay, the Club de Pesca Yacyretá is hosting a sports fishing tournament with over 130 boats registered. The event aims to boost local tourism and the economy, including the hospitality and gastronomic sectors, before expected river rises in October. The tournament follows strict catch-and-release rules to protect fish populations and is being coordinated with environmental and naval authorities to ensure migratory patterns in the Paraná River are not disrupted. The event also features cultural festivals with music and dance.
