Fishing on Orfű cements role as Hungary's top alternative music festival

The Fishing on Orfű festival, now approaching its 20th edition, has grown into the largest alternative‑light music event in Hungary. Tickets and passes sell out each year, and the festival has maintained a focus on systematic development rather than profit‑maximisation, distinguishing it from larger, more commercial festivals.

After a tense atmosphere in 2024, when new drug‑related legislation and police actions heightened concerns, this year's edition saw a marked return to a friendly, apolitical environment. Notable acts such as HS7, 30Y and Kispál & the Borz performed, reflecting the festival’s continued appeal to both artists and audiences.

Organisers emphasize the event’s regional identity in the Mecsek hills and its commitment to supporting the alternative music scene, which has struggled nationally due to market saturation and rising costs.
