Fishing tournaments announced for November in Mexico

Two distinct fishing competitions are scheduled to take place in Mexico this November, aiming to promote sports, family activities, and tourism.

The 2nd Ribereña Fishing Tournament 2026 will be held on November 29. Organized by Ramón Cano Valencia, the event will start at the Malecón de la Cultura y las Artes, with navigation covering areas from the Balsas River to Playa Azul. The competition focuses on Jurel, Sierra, and Barrilete species. Organizers aim to break previous participation records, noting that the prize pool is guaranteed regardless of the number of registered boats.

Separately, the Catch and Release Fishing Tournament 2026 is set for November 22 at Playa Boca Vieja in Bajos de Coyula, Huatulco. This shore-based competition uses rods and lures, requiring participants to return all captured species to the water alive. The tournament features a prize pool of 185,000 pesos, with the first-place winner receiving 140,000 pesos.
