Fiskars X17 M splitting axe designed for medium-sized logs

Fiskars has positioned the X17 M splitting axe as a specialized tool for processing medium-sized logs, specifically those with a diameter of 20 to 30 cm. The tool is designed to bridge the gap between light universal garden axes and heavy forestry splitting hammers.

The axe features a steel head with a hardness of approximately 55 HRC and an anti-stick coating intended to reduce friction and ease release from wood. It is paired with a FiberComp handle made of glass-fiber reinforced plastic, which is designed to be permanently bonded to the head for durability under load.

Technical specifications include a total weight of approximately 1.6 kg, with the head weighing about 1,090 g. The handle length is reported to be around 60 cm, though some retailers list it up to 650 mm. The product is priced in the range of 70 to 90 euros.
