Fitness experts discuss strength training and physical health standards

Fitness expert Alina Bock highlights the deadlift as a highly effective compound exercise for those with limited training time. The movement engages nearly the entire body, specifically targeting the legs—including the glutes, hamstrings, and quadriceps—as well as the back, core, and forearms. Beyond muscle building, the exercise improves coordination and posture, which can help prevent or alleviate back pain.

In a separate discussion on general physical fitness, sports expert Ingo Froböse from the German Sport University Cologne addresses the current fitness levels of adults. According to World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, adults aged 18 to 64 should aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate activity or 75 to 150 minutes of intense activity per week, supplemented by strength training twice weekly. However, data suggests only one-third of people in Germany meet these WHO standards, indicating a widespread deficiency in basic fitness levels.
