Fitness sector warns of unqualified trainers and waning workout habits

Health professionals across Spain emphasise that the surge of unqualified individuals offering personal‑training advice online poses risks to public health. The president of the Catalan Association of Fitness Companies warned that without official qualifications, so‑called "gym fanatics" can cause injury and damage the reputation of the profession. They stress the need for recognised credentials such as a university degree in Physical Activity and Sport or a certified technical diploma, noting that regulation varies across Spain’s autonomous communities.

At the same time, motivational writers highlight a common seasonal drop in exercise participation. Many people abandon their routines in summer, leading to reduced physical activity, poorer sleep, lower energy and a weakened self‑identity as someone who cares for their health. The narrative stresses that short breaks can become prolonged disengagement, undermining both fitness goals and overall wellbeing.

Together, these perspectives underline the importance of qualified guidance and consistent personal commitment to maintain health benefits throughout the year.
