Fito Páez criticizes Javier Milei administration and democracy
Argentine musician Fito Páez has criticized the administration of President Javier Milei, describing the current political landscape as a “parody of democracy.” During an interview on the Spanish program “Cara al Show” with Marc Giró, Páez asserted that the traditional concept of democracy has eroded, stating, “The little story of democracy is over; finance reigns and politicians are puppets of the moment.”
Páez argued that while democracy remains the best available system, the influence of financial interests has superseded the power of the vote to elect effective leaders. He noted a shift in political perception since the 1980s, suggesting that the public no longer holds the same belief that voting ensures the best governance.
Additionally, the artist expressed concern regarding the disintegration of human spirit and social communication. He advocated for music as a vital tool for human connection and called for the strengthening of musical education in schools to foster a more humane society.
