Fitore Pacolli criticizes use of KLA leaders' trials for electioneering
Fitore Pacolli, the Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, has criticized the handling of the legal cases involving former KLA leaders currently being tried in The Hague. Pacolli questioned how these leaders can be effectively defended in the absence of a functioning president and amidst an upcoming election campaign.
Pacolli accused political opponents of exploiting the issue of the KLA leaders for electoral purposes. She stated that attempting to equate the political fate of a specific party with the historical legacy of the KLA constitutes a misuse of the war for narrow partisan interests.
Reiterating her opposition to the Special Court, Pacolli argued that the best way to protect the KLA leaders is through the functionalization of Kosovo's institutions and institutional cooperation to defend the legitimacy of the liberation war.
