Fitzroy North art deco home sells for $1.57 million at auction

An art deco home in Fitzroy North, Melbourne, sold for $1,572,000 at auction, exceeding its $1.5 million reserve by $72,000. The three-bedroom property at 15 King Street featured recent renovations, including polished floorboards and a light-filled entertaining area.

Jellis Craig auctioneer David Sanguinedo noted that the auction involved competition between a local downsizer and a bidder from Sydney. Sanguinedo observed that the market remains tight, with buyer demand outpacing available stock.

In a separate sale, a four-bedroom modern townhouse in West Footscray sold for $900,000 through post-auction negotiations. This property had a price guide of $800,000 to $880,000 and a reserve of $900,000. The week saw a total of 647 properties scheduled for auction across Melbourne.
