FIU and Georgetown Spotlight 2026 College Swimming Recruiting

Florida International University (FIU) announced its 2026‑27 swimming and diving signing class, adding 14 athletes—10 freshmen and four transfers. The roster features Norwegian backstroker Maria Alvestad, three‑time NJCAA champion Amelia Brown, diver Anna Bunnell who set a school record, and several other talent from Norway, Indiana and beyond. Head coach Randy Horner said the group checks many boxes and will make an immediate impact in the American Conference.

Junior Nations qualifier Cecelia Russell, a senior at the Potomac School in McLean, Virginia, gave a verbal commitment to join Georgetown University's women's swim team for the fall 2027 season. Russell, a sprint freestyle and butterfly specialist, is the VISAA state champion in the 100‑fly and posted qualifying times at the Junior Nationals. She is expected to be a strong contributor in Georgetown’s Big East program.
