Fiumefreddo di Sicilia mourns 25-year-old Luigi Ragonese after fatal accident

The community of Fiumefreddo di Sicilia gathered to mourn Luigi Ragonese, a 25-year-old man who passed away following a severe road accident. His funeral was held at the Chiesa Madre Maria Santissima Immacolata.

The accident occurred on September 6 on State Road 114, near the border of Mascali and Giarre. Ragonese, riding a Honda SH 300, was involved in a violent collision involving a Ford Fiesta and a minicar. After spending approximately one month in critical condition at the Cannizzaro Hospital in Catania, he succumbed to his injuries.

During the funeral service, Father Carmelo Di Costa addressed the congregation, describing the young man as a victim of “injustice, carelessness, and distraction,” calling for a collective examination of conscience regarding road safety and responsibility.
