Fiumicino event explores the history of Italian comedy

The Cadenze Letterarie event held at Orto Stiloso Bistrot in Fiumicino focused on the book ‘Evviva la commedia all’italiana – Anni 70/80’ by Antonio Santoriello. The event, curated by Dino Tropea, explored the human side of Italian comedy stars from the 1970s and 1980s.

Santoriello discussed his process of conducting sixteen interviews, some conducted in person at the artists' homes. He highlighted the humility and availability of the subjects, noting how they shared personal professional journeys beyond their public personas. The discussion included insights into the work of actors such as Milena Vukotic, Leo Gullotta, and Pippo Franco, with readings provided by Francesca Stajano Briganti.

Other contributors to the evening included Raffaele Riveccio, who discussed the tradition of character actors, Sonia Buscemi, who explored character psychology, and Riccardo Ferrero, who spoke about set work. The book follows a broader editorial path by Santoriello that has also addressed figures like Alberto Sordi, Tomas Milian, Andrea Roncato, and Franco Califano.
