Five arrested in fatal shooting of Mohamed Asmin Mohideen

Police have arrested five suspects, including a woman, in connection with the fatal shooting of 54-year-old Mohamed Asmin Mohideen. The victim, a hardware shop owner, was targeted by two individuals on a motorcycle in Maligawatte on August 10.

Investigators suspect the murder may have been orchestrated by a criminal known as ‘Kudu Anju’, who is believed to be residing in France. The killing is suspected to be a retaliatory act following the recent murder of an associate of Kudu Anju in the Ratmalana area.

During the investigation, officers from the Colombo North Crime Investigation Division seized approximately 25.8 grams of ‘ice’ methamphetamine and a motorcycle used in the crime. The suspects, aged between 19 and 28, have been handed over to the Kottanchai police.
