Kerala Malappuram Bus Crash Kills One, Injures About 20

A private limited‑stop bus traveling the Thrissur–Kozhikode route overturned near Kuttippuram in Kerala's Malappuram district on Sunday, 26 July 2026. The vehicle first struck an autorickshaw and then a parked car before skidding over 25 metres and overturning onto its side.

One passenger was killed and roughly 20 others were injured, with three victims in critical condition. Rescue teams comprising police, fire‑rescue services and local residents cut open the mangled bus to free trapped passengers and transferred the injured to hospitals in Kuttippuram, Valanchery and Kottakkal.

CCTV footage captured the bus losing control on the rain‑slicked road, and Kerala Transport Minister CP John confirmed the accident, noting preliminary information that the bus was likely travelling at high speed. Authorities have opened an investigation into the exact cause of the crash.
