Five dead in Douglas County head-on collision

Five people died following a head-on collision on State Route 2 in Douglas County, Washington, on Sunday night. According to the Washington State Patrol, a Nissan Maxima traveling west crossed into the eastbound lanes near milepost 137, striking a Chevrolet Sonic.

Four of the victims, all men, were traveling in the Nissan Maxima. The driver of the Chevrolet Sonic was a 77-year-old woman from Omak. Investigators cited improper lane usage as the cause of the crash and noted that drugs or alcohol were involved, though specific details regarding intoxication levels have not been released.

Three of the five individuals involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the impact. The collision resulted in a two-hour closure of the roadway.
