Clash near Tell village in West Bank leaves five dead
On 24 July 2026 an armed confrontation erupted near the Israeli outpost “Gilad Farm” in the Palestinian village of Tell (near Nablus) in the occupied West Bank. According to the Palestinian health ministry, Israeli settlers entered the village, set a house ablaze and exchanged fire with residents, killing four Palestinians and wounding three. Israeli media reported one Israeli settler also died. The Israeli army first described the incident as an attack on Israeli hikers, later acknowledging a “violent clash” involving settlers and Palestinians.
Israeli finance minister Bezalel Smotrich demanded that the implicated villages be “cleansed of terrorist infrastructure,” while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged “energetic” military actions and announced plans to accelerate the legalization of settlements. The Israeli military imposed curfews, roadblocks and began large‑scale operations in the area, detaining dozens of Palestinians. International observers have condemned the violence and the settlement policy, noting that all Israeli outposts in the West Bank are deemed illegal under international law.
