Five killed in overloaded truck accident on Moroto-Soroti highway

Five people were killed and several others seriously injured after an overloaded truck overturned on the Moroto-Soroti highway in Uganda's Napak District. The accident occurred at Lodoon Village when the vehicle, which was transporting both passengers and cattle, reportedly suffered a front tyre burst.

According to Karamoja Police spokesperson IP Mike Longole, the driver lost control, causing the truck to overturn multiple times. Witnesses reported that the vehicle was traveling at high speed prior to the crash. The injured victims were transported to St Kizito Hospital Matany for medical treatment. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
