Venezuela releases military personnel from Ramo Verde prison

Several military personnel have been released from the Ramo Verde military prison in Venezuela following recent negotiations. Among those released are three individuals previously accused of “treason to the fatherland” in connection with the “Operation White Bracelet” conspiracy, which allegedly aimed to target Nicolás Maduro. These individuals include Marcos David Insignares García, Wladimir Rafael Escalona Gutiérrez, and Riannys Valentina Mujica De Montesinos.

Additionally, five other military members, including Major César Girón, were released under precautionary measures. While these individuals are no longer detained, they remain subject to judicial processes, including prohibitions on leaving the country and restrictions on making public statements. These releases occur within a broader context of approximately 131 reported releases as part of a negotiation process involving the Venezuelan government and opposition.

Concurrently, Amnesty International and the families of detainees are raising urgent concerns regarding the health of political prisoners. They report a pattern of inadequate medical care, delayed evaluations, and a lack of access to specialists within Venezuelan prisons. Activists claim that these conditions, including potential mistreatment and restricted access to medication, are causing the health of many detainees to deteriorate.
