Five‑month traffic restrictions imposed on Greece's Athens‑Lamia motorway
Greek traffic police announced temporary traffic regulations on the Athens–Lamia motorway (AΘΕ) to accommodate technical road works near LykoVrisi. The works will be carried out in four phases, with night‑time full closures on 15‑16 July 2026 (Phase A and Phase B) and subsequent lane‑narrowing measures that will remain in effect for about five months. Drivers will be rerouted via alternative entry points at the LykoVrisi and Kaliftaki interchanges for the southbound direction and via the Tatoi interchange for the northbound direction.
During the restriction period, the three travel lanes will be simultaneously narrowed and shifted to the right, with alternating closures of the left and middle lanes toward Lamia and a permanent closure of the left lane toward Athens. Signage and safety measures will be installed during night hours, and motorists are urged to reduce speed and follow temporary markings to maintain safety and traffic flow.
