Fixando report shows gender gap in technical professions

An analysis by the platform Fixando reveals persistent occupational segregation in the service market, with women remaining underrepresented in technical fields. Data shows women account for only 7% of specialists in technical assistance, 12% in automotive services, and 25% in home services.

In contrast, female presence is significantly higher in sectors related to care, education, and well-being. Women represent 85% of specialists in domestic services, 75% in animal services, 69% in well-being, and 60% in teaching.

The report highlights a declining trend in female participation among new registrations on the platform. While women made up 51% of new specialist registrations in 2025, this figure dropped to 36% in the first seven months of 2026. Alice Nunes, director of new business at Fixando, noted that technical areas remain predominantly male, confirming that occupational segregation continues to be a reality in the service market.
