Fixed Solutions discusses Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law compliance

Fixed Solutions hosted the first session of its ‘Fixed Webinars’ series to discuss Egypt’s Personal Data Protection Law. The session focused on the final countdown for organizational compliance and the practical challenges of transitioning from legislative understanding to implementation.

Experts, including legal advisor Dr. Mohamed Hegazy from the UNODC and Mahmoud Tawfik, CEO of Fixed Investment Group, discussed essential steps for compliance. Key recommendations included inventorying personal data, classifying data by sensitivity, and reviewing legal bases for processing.

Participants emphasized the importance of clearly defining responsibilities between data controllers and processors, ensuring the readiness of Data Protection Officers (DPOs), and reviewing internal policies for data storage and sharing. The discussion also covered the necessity of protecting sensitive data and children's data, as well as establishing clear procedures for data subjects to exercise their rights. Additionally, experts highlighted the need for proactive data breach response plans, including escalation channels and periodic testing of security measures.
