FK Beograd celebrates 77 years of history in Australia

FK Beograd, the oldest Serbian football club in Australia, has a history spanning 77 years in Adelaide. Founded on November 19, 1949, by post-WWII immigrants, the club served as a vital community hub for the Serbian diaspora.

The club's history is closely tied to Frank Mitchell, an Australian official who joined in the 1950s. Known as ‘Mr. Beograd’ for his decades of dedication, Mitchell assisted with field maintenance, organized youth categories, and even used his home to store club equipment. In recognition of his contributions, the club's stadium was named Frank Mitchell Park, and he ultimately left his house to the organization.
