FK Borac advances to Conference League play-off

FK Borac Banja Luka has advanced to the UEFA Conference League play-off round after a dramatic victory over Belarusian side Vitebsk. Due to UEFA sanctions against Belarusian clubs, the match was held in Hungary.

The match was highly contested. Vitebsk led 1:0 during regulation time and again took a 2:1 lead in the final minute of extra time through a free kick by Artem Kontsevoy. However, 16-year-old Matej Deket had scored for Borac in the 103rd minute to force the game into a penalty shootout. Borac ultimately won the shootout 4:2, aided by goalkeeper Mladen Jurkas, who saved two penalties.

Advancing to the play-off stage offers significant financial incentives. Borac has already earned 2.6 million KM during their European campaign. If they successfully reach the league phase by defeating Icelandic side Vikingur, they could earn an additional 6.3 million KM, potentially bringing their total UEFA earnings to 8.9 million KM.
