FL Technics opens heavy maintenance hub in Punta Cana

FL Technics has officially commenced operations at its new heavy maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) hub at Punta Cana International Airport in the Dominican Republic. The facility, which marks the company’s first dedicated heavy maintenance site in the Americas, received its first aircraft, an Airbus A320ceo.

The project represents a 70 million US dollar joint investment between FL Technics and Grupo Puntacana. Spanning over 20,000 square meters, the hangar features five maintenance bays equipped to service both the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft families. The center has received RAD-145 certification from the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC) and approval from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Once operating at full capacity, the facility is expected to generate up to 2,000 specialized jobs. To support long-term workforce development, the company also plans to establish a dedicated aviation MRO academy to train local technicians.
