Flai-Cgil protests rejection of working hour amendment in Sicily

The Flai-Cgil union has expressed strong indignation following the Sicilian Regional Assembly's budget commission decision to reject an amendment regarding working hours for personnel at the Gela and Caltanissetta Land Reclamation Consortia.

The union leaders, Giuseppe Randazzo and Antonino Russo, criticized the move as a political choice that undermines the dignity of these workers. They noted a discrepancy in treatment, pointing out that the same commission approved an amendment allocating over one million euros to increase working hours for precarious and former precarious staff in other local entities.

Flai-Cgil has directly called upon Sicilian Regional President Renato Schifani and Regional Agriculture Assessor Luca Sammartino to address the issue, arguing that the rejection is not merely a technical or accounting matter but a lack of political will to recognize the rights of these specific workers.
