Flamengo and Cruzeiro face off in Brasileirão after Libertadores clash

Flamengo and Cruzeiro are set to face each other in a Campeonato Brasileiro match at the Mineirão this Saturday, following their recent encounter in the Copa Libertadores. Flamengo secured advancement to the Libertadores quarterfinals after a 2-1 victory over Cruzeiro at the Maracanã on August 19, with goals from Giorgian de Arrascaeta and Samuel Lino.

In the domestic league, Flamengo currently holds second place with 45 points, trailing leader Palmeiras by three points. Cruzeiro sits in fifth place with 36 points. For the upcoming match, Cruzeiro manager Artur Jorge is expected to rotate his squad to prepare for a decisive Copa do Brasil clash against Atlético-MG. Flamengo, managed by Leonardo Jardim, may also manage player minutes following their high-intensity continental fixture.

Additionally, the CBF has rescheduled Flamengo’s delayed fourth-round match against Mirassol for September 2 at the Maracanã. This fixture follows Flamengo’s recent 5-1 victory over Mirassol in the second half of the season.
