Flamengo approves management reform amid Maracanã investigation

Clube de Regatas do Flamengo is undergoing significant structural changes following the approval of a professional management reform by its Deliberative Council. The proposal, presented by President Luiz Eduardo Baptista, received 92% approval from voting members. The reform aims to separate governance, supervision, and execution functions by creating a Professional Board of executives and a Management Council (COGE) to oversee strategic decisions. This model maintains the club as a civil association rather than a SAF.

Separately, the Maracanã Stadium is under investigation by the Rio de Janeiro Public Ministry (MPRJ) regarding alleged financial irregularities and safety concerns. The investigation focuses on the potential diversion of approximately R$ 1 million per month through irregular ticket sales. Authorities are examining reports of overcrowding during matches involving Flamengo and Fluminense, noting that 11 Flamengo matches and four Fluminense matches showed signs of exceeding capacity.

Both clubs have responded to the MP inquiry. Flamengo stated that its attendance figures did not exceed security limits, while Fluminense denied overcrowding but acknowledged certain sales practices may not align with the General Sports Law. The investigation also scrutinizes discrepancies in match reports and the adequacy of police presence during events.
