Flamengo and Paolo Guerrero settle eight-year legal dispute

Flamengo and striker Paolo Guerrero have reached a legal settlement, ending a judicial dispute that lasted eight years. The parties notified the Rio de Janeiro court of their agreement to finalize all related processes.

The legal conflict involved several claims. Flamengo had sought approximately R$ 2 million from the former player. One action included a R$ 200,000 claim for moral damages, naming both Guerrero and the Peruvian Football Federation. Another lawsuit sought roughly R$ 1.8 million to cover expenses incurred during a 120-day period when the player was sidelined due to a doping suspension.

Guerrero had previously argued in court that the club was seeking “vengeance” following his 2018 decision to leave Flamengo for Internacional. The striker, who currently plays for Alianza Lima at age 42, scored 43 goals in 115 appearances for Flamengo, including a 2017 Campeonato Carioca title.
