Flamengo considers selling Gonzalo Plata in January
Flamengo is evaluating the sale of Ecuadorian winger Gonzalo Plata during the upcoming January transfer window. The Brazilian club is reportedly seeking a transfer fee of approximately EUR 12 million to recover its investment.
Plata, who joined Flamengo in 2024 from Al-Sadd, is currently under contract until 2029. His potential departure follows a failed transfer to Dinamo Moscow in late August 2026. That deal, valued at roughly EUR 10 million, was canceled after the Russian club declined the signing due to issues identified during medical examinations.
Since returning to Rio de Janeiro, Plata has reintegrated into the squad and has seen increased playing time under manager Leonardo Jardim. However, Flamengo's management is looking to optimize the squad and balance the wage bill, which may lead to the player being placed back on the market.
