Flamengo draws 2-2 with River Plate in Algarve friendly

Brazilian side Flamengo and Argentine club River Plate played out a 2-2 draw at the Estádio Algarve in Portugal on July 3. The match echoed the 2019 Libertadores final, with River taking an early lead through Driussi (6'), Flamengo equalising via Samuel Lino (29'), then taking the lead when Bruno Henrique scored (32'). Driussi restored parity before halftime (37'), leaving the scores level at the break.

Both coaches, Leonardo Jardim for Flamengo and Eduardo Coudet for River Plate, made several substitutions in the second half, which reduced the tempo of the game. The friendly served as Flamengo's first preparation match before the season resumes, with the club set to face Lausanne‑Sport on July 8 and Benfica in the Algarve Trophy on July 11.
