Flamengo expands youth squad and maintains high transfer spending

Flamengo is actively managing both its youth development and professional squad investments. The club has officially signed 16-year-old defender Matheus Garay on a one-and-a-half-year loan from Sfera. The deal includes a purchase option and an initial investment of R$ 200,000. Additionally, the club is negotiating a salary increase for striker Pedro to reflect his market value and performance, aiming to place him among the five highest-paid players in the squad.

Financial data from the CIES Football Observatory highlights Flamengo's significant spending power in the Brazilian market. To assemble its current squad, Flamengo has invested approximately 225 million euros (R$ 1.34 billion), which is roughly R$ 260 million more than its rival, Palmeiras, which spent 181 million euros (R$ 1.078 billion). While these figures are substantial within Brazil, they remain significantly lower than top European clubs like Liverpool, which leads the global ranking with an investment of 1.2 billion euros.
