Flamengo extends Danilo's contract until 2027
Flamengo has officially announced the contract renewal of veteran defender Danilo, extending his stay at the club until December 2027. The 35-year-old, who has played as both a right-back and a center-back, signed the agreement at the Ninho do Urubu training center.
Danilo, a key figure in Flamengo's 2025 Copa Libertadores victory where he scored the decisive goal against Palmeiras, expressed a sense of “duty fulfilled” regarding his contributions to the club's trophy cabinet. The extension follows a period of reconsideration for the athlete, who had previously contemplated retiring after the most recent World Cup.
Club director José Boto highlighted Danilo's importance not only for his on-field performance but also for his leadership and positive influence within the squad. The defender intends for 2027 to be his final professional season. Currently, Danilo is recovering from jaw fractures sustained during a recent match against Fluminense.
