Portugal flu vaccination rates rise as Ronaldo faces suspension and Brazil investigates election fraud
In Portugal, the Direção-Geral da Saúde (DGS) reported that over 940,000 people have been vaccinated against the flu since the seasonal campaign began on September 30. Most vaccinations occurred in pharmacies, with 520,584 administered there and 427,255 through the National Health Service (SNS). Among those aged 60 or older, the coverage rate stands at 25.42%.
In sports news, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) Discipline Council has issued a 30-day suspension and a €255 fine to Cristiano Ronaldo. The penalty follows his decision to abandon the team concentration before a Nations League match against Denmark in September due to a dispute with coach Jorge Jesus. His return to the national team remains subject to the coach's decision.
In Brazil, the Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (Gaeco) is conducting an operation in Várzea Grande. The investigation targets alleged irregularities and the purchase of support during the election for the City Council's Board of Directors, an election that was previously annulled by the Supreme Federal Court (STF).
