Flamengo leads Brazilian football fan preference in 2026

A Datafolha survey released in late July 2026 shows Flamengo as the most popular football club in Brazil, with 22% of the population declaring support. This marks an eight-percentage-point lead over Corinthians, which holds 14% of the preference.

Based on IBGE population estimates, Flamengo's fanbase is projected to be approximately 47 million people. The club's growth is attributed to a successful period between 2021 and 2025, during which it secured two Copa Libertadores titles (2022 and 2025), a Campeonato Brasileiro (2025), and multiple domestic cups.

Other clubs ranked in the study include Palmeiras at 7%, São Paulo at 6%, Cruzeiro at 4%, and a tie between Vasco da Gama and Grêmio at 3%. The survey was conducted in 139 municipalities across all five Brazilian regions with a margin of error of two percentage points.
