Flamengo manages disciplinary issues and player integration

Flamengo is facing disciplinary challenges as midfielder Jorginho has received three red cards in 2026. His most recent dismissal occurred during a 2-2 draw against Santos, where the loss of a player contributed to the team's inability to secure a victory. This follows a similar incident in the Libertadores quarterfinals against Independiente del Valle.

Despite these disciplinary issues, Jorginho has become a trusted leader under manager Leonardo Jardim. The 34-year-old, who previously played for clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal, and Napoli, expressed satisfaction with his decision to return to Brazilian football after his career in Europe.

Meanwhile, the club is working to integrate new signing Joaquín Freitas. The 19-year-old Argentine attacker, acquired from River Plate for a fixed fee of $7 million, is using the international break to improve his physical conditioning and tactical adaptation to seek more playing time under Jardim.
