Flamengo misses player sale targets despite leading league attendance
Flamengo has reported mixed results regarding its financial and operational performance during the 2026 Brasileirão season. Financially, the club fell short of its R$ 250 million target for player sales, generating R$ 171.6 million. Key revenue drivers included the sale of Ryan Roberto to Shakhtar Donetsk and FIFA solidarity mechanism payments from the transfer of João Gomes to Aston Villa. The club is currently evaluating changes to its youth academy integration to improve future profit margins.
On the field, Flamengo has demonstrated significant commercial strength through high stadium attendance. The club leads the Brasileirão with an average of 62,467 spectators per home game at the Maracanã, maintaining a substantial lead over Corinthians, which averages 38,086. Flamengo also holds the three highest individual match attendances in the competition so far, with crowds exceeding 70,000 for matches against Palmeiras, São Paulo, and Corinthians.
