Flamengo to face Olimpia in final pre‑season friendly in Brasília
Brazilian club Flamengo will meet Paraguay's Olimpia in the last inter‑season friendly before the domestic calendar restarts. The match is scheduled for Friday 17 July 2026 at 20:00 local time in the Mané Garrincha stadium in Brasília and is organized by Metrópoles Sports. Over 40,000 tickets have already been sold, with prices starting at R$59 via Ticket and Go.
The game will be streamed free on Flamengo TV’s YouTube channel in both Portuguese and Spanish. Flamengo arrives from three unbeaten preparatory games in Portugal (a 2‑2 draw with River Plate, a 2‑0 win over Lausanne and a 2‑1 victory against Benfica). Coach Leonardo Jardim aims to keep the team’s friendly unbeaten run and may add recent returnees such as Varela, De la Cruz and Léo Ortiz to the squad. Expected starters include goal‑keeper Rossi, defenders Varela and Emerson Royal, midfielders Jorginho and Pedro, and forwards Bruno Henrique and Samuel Lino.
Olimpia, champion of Paraguay’s Apertura 2026, will field players including newcomer defender Tim Payne. The fixture serves as Flamengo’s final tactical test ahead of the Brazilian Serie A match against Chapecoense on 22 July and their upcoming Libertadores round‑of‑16 tie with Cruzeiro.
