Vasco president Pedrinho attacks Flamengo president over financial disputes

Vasco da Gama president Pedrinho has launched a series of personal attacks against Flamengo president Luiz Eduardo Baptista, known as BAP, following a formal complaint filed by Flamengo regarding Vasco's finances.

Flamengo notified the National Agency for Regulation and Sustainability of Football (ANRESF) to request an investigation into Vasco's economic situation. The complaint highlights that Vasco, which is currently in judicial recovery, is seeking new financing of approximately R$ 150 million while continuing to make significant player signings. Flamengo argues this practice threatens the financial fair play and competitive balance of the Brazilian Championship.

In response, Pedrinho characterized BAP as “bad-character, arrogant, and hypocritical,” claiming the Flamengo official only advocates for league isonomy when it does not conflict with Flamengo's interests, such as the division of Libra broadcasting rights. Pedrinho further alleged that BAP is engaging in institutional persecution against Vasco by interfering in matters related to the club's SAF (football corporation) and its judicial recovery process.
