Flamengo progresses under Leonardo Jardim as Samuel Lino thrives and Johnny Góes contract talks advance

Forward Samuel Lino has become a pivotal player for Flamengo after coach Leonardo Jardim gave him greater tactical freedom. Since the tactical shift, Lino recorded 14 assists – nine in official matches and five in friendlies – and said, “With Jardim I have mobility, I can play inside, ask for the ball behind the defense and it suits my style.”

Young full‑back Johnny Góes, a product of Flamengo’s academy, is also in the club’s plans. Coach Jardim praised his performances and indicated he could receive more playing time. Flamengo is negotiating a contract extension for Góes, whose current deal runs until the end of 2027, and is discussing a €50 million (R$ 292.2 million) release clause to secure his future with the team.
